Julie Page - Founder and M.D.
Julie started the business in 2014 as a hobby to help her friends with their gardens. Armed with over 20 years’ practical experience, she has since added qualifications in Garden Design and Planting to her portfolio.
Border Control now has 10 members of staff and offers a complete service from design through to planting and aftercare.
While Julie can offer one-off designs, clearances and replantings, her passionate enthusiasm is perfect for forming long-term relationships to work with you in nurturing and developing your garden over time.
The team
All our staff are enthusiastic gardeners, each bringing their own skill set to the team. From qualified horticulturalists and designers to graduates keen to specialise in this field, our team are all knowledge-based gardeners focused on transforming your garden into the space you dream of.
Your garden should match your personality and celebrate your individual style. Whether you want a border revitalising or a full redesign of your garden, we offer a personal service and will work with you to create a garden that is truly you, reflecting your lifestyle and your budget.
What we do
Garden design
We will guide you through the design process starting with a design consultation visit at your home, so we can understand your requirements.
We will then email you with a design costing for approval.
Once accepted, we will carry out a survey of the site to record all measurements, key features and aspect.
Having drawn up concept plans for your garden, we will meet again to discuss the ideas and incorporate any changes to determine the final plan.
The final design is hand drawn to scale to enable the hard landscaper to quote from.
We can recommend contractors we regularly work with or work with your own.
Garden refresh
If you already have the hard landscaping you want and just need a border revitalising, we can work with your existing garden, clearing and pruning as necessary and replanting to provide fresh colour and interest.
Planting plans
We pride ourselves on being planting specialists and can provide you with a planting plan ranging from a few plants to occupy gaps created by the tidying process to a scaled plan, detailing names and quantities for your newly landscaped garden.
We are careful to include your preferred colour palette and style into the plan.
Planting
We prefer to plant up a scheme to our high standards but are also happy to work with you on site. The whole process of plant sourcing, ordering, collection, delivery and planting can be undertaken by ourselves once you have approved the plan.
Aftercare and advice
After you are completely satisfied with the transformation of your garden, we can either leave you to maintain it yourself, or we can agree a flexible aftercare schedule with you, be that weekly, fortnightly, monthly or annually.
As well as caring for your newly installed plants, we can help with lawn mowing, hedge cutting, small tree and shrub pruning and any other garden advice required.
